Lebanon Valley College Students Host Middle School Band Festival

Free public concert to be Friday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. in Lutz Hall

ANNVILLE, PA (01/17/2012)(readMedia)-- The student members of the Lebanon Valley College chapter of the National Association for Music Education, or NAfME, present the 2012 Middle School Band Festival. A free public concert will be Friday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. in Lutz Hall of the Blair Music Center.

Participating area schools include Blue Mountain, Central Dauphin East, Conrad Weiser, Danville, ELCO, Ephrata, Hamburg, Nativity BVM, Palmyra, Pine Grove, Schuylkill Haven, and Tri-Valley middle schools.

NAfME (The National Association for Music Education), with nearly 90,000 members, is the largest national association dedicated to the advancement of music education and to professional growth opportunities for its members. The LVC Chapter, with 50 music education major members, supports the music department and music education majors through a variety of avenues.

One of the chapter's larger projects is the LVC Middle School Band Festival. This event for grades six through eight provides a first-time festival band experience for middle-school students. With LVC students directing, rehearsing, and coordinating the festival, it also provides hands-on experience for NAfME members.
