ANNVILLE, PA (09/06/2011)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College and Metz Culinary Management, the College's food service partner, celebrated the grand opening of the newly-created servery in the Mund College Center project with a ribbon cutting at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

"We are happy to be able to provide a state-of-the-art dining experience for our students in the new servery," said Greg Krikorian, vice president for student affairs. "Throughout the construction process, Metz has been a terrific partner."

Balloons marked the entrance to the dining hall and were scattered on tables throughout the room, while numerous College and Metz officials were on hand to mark the ceremonious occasion. Katie Seigendall, student government vice president, had the privilege of cutting the ribbon.

"I am honored to be a part of today's ceremony," she said. "The new Mund College Center is a great improvement for the student body. We're all looking forward to seeing the completion of the project. The servery grand opening signifies an important milestone in the construction."

The College has completed the first two phases of the $13.3 million renovation project, which began in October 2010 and will be finished in early spring 2012. Metz is providing $1.25 million in funding to support the renovation.

John C. Metz, CEO, said, "It is spectacular to see something old reborn as a completely new and revitalized thing. This dining facility now offers great foods, with custom ordering, and fresh and healthy options. It has a restaurant mentality."

His son, Jeff Metz, president, agreed and added, "You can see in the student reaction that this is a really great place for LVC students."

The new servery includes a multitude of fresh dining options, including brick oven pizza and carving stations and made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, and omelets.
