Lebanon Valley College to Present the Vagina Monologues

Show scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 19 in Leedy Theater

ANNVILLE, PA (03/07/2011)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College will present Eve Ensler's Vagina Monologues on Saturday, March 19, at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are free for LVC students; $5 for non-LVC students; and $10 for the general public. The event is sponsored by Lebanon Valley College's F-word organization, a feminist group on campus.

The Vagina Monologues are a series of monologues about the vagina, including topics of sex, love, rape, menstruation, birth, and more. The show has been performed in more than 130 countries and translated into 45 languages. Stars including Oprah Winfrey, Whoopi Goldberg, Glenn Close, Susan Sarandon, and many others have starred in the play promoting female empowerment. It has won awards for playwriting, solo performances, and theater.

Vagina Monologues is under the direction of seniors Jamie Latshaw, Ashley Conzelmann, and Robyn Smith, and juniors Lisa Adamu, Christa Levko, and Theodora Hermes. Cast members include seniors Sherae Jones, Arlene Reiter, Aleka Liaziz, Samantha Gatewood, Lauren Brugger, and Niaomi Lugo; juniors Rachel Beazley, Ali McFadden, Natalie Gieger, Alison Reed, Kimmy Holt, Trish Harkins, Laura Bremer, Rachel Leer, Megan Repoley, Marissa Hernandez, Lindsay Griendling, Amanda Devillers, Chloe Skylakon, and Jess Scola; sophomores Jennifer Koch and Samantha Oates; freshman Samantha Hoover, Rachel Snavely, and Charelle Bryant; and Dr. Karen Walker, associate professor of education.

All proceeds from the show will benefit the College's Women's Services and Gender Resource Center, V-day (Eve Ensler's campaign for the show), DVI, AIDS Alliance, and SARCC.
