ANNVILLE, PA (09/01/2010)(readMedia)-- Dr. Rebecca Lister and Dr. Dennis Sweigart, members of the Lebanon Valley College music faculty, will join Messiah College Professor Randall Zwally to perform an afternoon of Spanish art song on Sept. 19 at 3 p.m. at Zimmerman Recital Hall in the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery. The performance, a continuation of Lister's sabbatical recital last year, features music by Spanish and Latin American composers. Admission is free and open to the public.

This recital of art songs in Spanish brings lesser-known yet greatly appealing music to the community. The poetry of the songs is vibrant and fresh, and is set to music by composers such as Palomo, Rodrigo, Granados, and Buchardo. Lister, a soprano, also will be accompanied by Zwally on guitar for three works for voice. Zwally is a senior lecturer at Messiah College's music department and is an eclectic performer. He brings his own deep connection to Spanish music to this exciting program.

Lister is an associate professor of music at LVC and teaches voice instruction. She earned a bachelor's degree from James Madison University and a master's and doctoral degree from Florida State University.

Sweigart, who completed his bachelor's degree at LVC, is a professor of music and teaches form and analysis, and piano instruction. He earned a master's degree from the University of Michigan and a doctoral degree from the University of Iowa.

Zwally, an accomplished guitarist, earned master's degrees in guitar performance from West Chester University and library science from Clarion University.
