ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (12/02/2011)(readMedia)-- Maria Margarette L.S. Concepcion of Lexington Park, Maryland has been awarded the St. Mary's County Scholarship at St. Mary's College of Maryland. The scholarship was established by the St. Mary's County Commissioners and private donors to benefit academically talented students from St. Mary's County with financial need.
Concepcion, Class of 2013, is majoring in art and art history. She is a member of the iMedia club, which brings together students who are interested in digital media She holds two on-campus jobs: one with the Office of International Education and one as a digital resource development specialist. Concepcion plans to pursue a career in graphic design or as a curator and art educator.
St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
