DELHI, NY (11/03/2016)(readMedia)-- Dr. Kelli Ligeikis has been named Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at SUNY Delhi, effective January 16, 2017 President Michael R. Laliberte announced.

"Dr. Ligeikis' expertise in technology education, her ability to create innovative programs that foster student success, and her more than 25 years of experience in the SUNY system will be invaluable in helping shape our future," said President Laliberte. "I look forward to working with Dr. Ligeikis to position SUNY Delhi for long-term success by building on the strengths of our academic programs."

Ligeikis was chosen from among 30 candidates identified by a national search to fill the college's highest academic leadership position. She succeeds Dr. John Nader who became president of Farmingdale State College earlier this year.

Most recently, Dr. Ligeikis has served as Associate Vice President (AVP) and Dean at SUNY Broome Community College. In the AVP role, Dr. Ligeikis implemented an action plan to double enrollment in the college's concurrent enrollment program, tripled enrollment at the college's Owego Campus Center, and enhanced collaboration with area educators through the Southern Tier Educational Pipeline United Partnership (STEPUP).

As Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) at Broome, Dr. Ligeikis supervised seven academic departments, including Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering Science and Physics, Engineering Technologies (Civil, Electrical and Mechanical) Physical Science, and Mathematics. She assisted in securing several state and national grants to support educational opportunities at Broome while providing academic leadership and oversight for the college's Natural Science Center, led new program development in its STEM division, and guided program revisions to support SUNY's seamless transfer effort.

During her tenure at Broome, Dr. Ligeikis also served as chair of the Civil Engineering Technology Department and has taught many courses offered in the Civil Engineering Technology program. She also serves as a faculty member for Capella University's Leadership for Higher Education Program where she also assisted in the development of a master's degree curriculum and mentors doctoral candidates.

Dr. Ligeikis has dedicated her free time to several community organizations, including Cornell Cooperative Extension (currently a board member), Binghamton City Planning Commission, Greater Binghamton Education Outreach Program, and the Broome County Energy Advisory Council. Her professional affiliations include the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), and the New York State STEM Education Collaborative.

She has a passion for athletics and has served as head coach for the Southern Tier Hockey Association, as Section Coordinator for the Empire State Games Central Women's Hockey Team, and as chair of the En-Joie Ladies Golf Association. She is also the founder of the Binghamton Area Girls Hockey Association.

Dr. Ligeikis holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from University of Phoenix. At Binghamton University, she obtained a master's degree in Social Sciences with a special emphasis on education of the non-traditional student, specifically women studying non-traditional fields such as engineering, and completed a thesis on Women in Engineering. Dr. Ligeikis also holds a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Clarkson University and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of New York.
