DANVILLE , IL (10/13/2012)(readMedia)-- A group of students from Lakeview College of Nursing will be hosting the event Lighting the Way: An Evening of Honor at Lincoln Park in Danville, Illinois on Monday, October 15, from 6 PM - 7:30 PM. The public is invited to attend in order to honor past, present, and future nurses.
To honor the nursing profession, luminaries will be sold and displayed on a path during "The Walk of Honor" through Lincoln Park on North Logan Avenue. Luminaries can be personalized with the honorees name or a personal message to let them know how much you appreciate them. The proceeds of the luminaries will go to a current nursing student attending Danville Area Community College or Lakeview College of Nursing. On the night of the celebration the scholarship winner will be announced and the scholarship will be applied to the students account for the following semester.
Joyce Atchinson, PhD, RN, will be a guest speaker at the event to shed some light on the nursing profession.
Lakeview College of Nursing students Tiffany Hartke of Champaign, IL; Kimberly Lindsay of Indianapolis, IN; Krystal Melcarek of Mukwonago, WI; and Erin Nicholson of Catlin, IL; decided to pursue this effort to show appreciation for the profession of nursing. The students plan to recognize not only current nurses, but past nurses who have also made a difference in the profession of nursing.
Sometimes the nursing profession goes unrecognized, and the purpose of this event is to include all those who have impacted the lives of those they serve, according to the student organizers.
Lakeview College of Nursing has provided excellence in nursing education since 1894. Lakeview currently offers a bachelor of science in nursing degree program in Danville as well as Charleston, Illinois.
