Lilburn Local Laura Omundson Moore Named Distinguished Alumna of Auburn University

MONTGOMERY, AL (11/01/2010)(readMedia)-- Laura Omundson Moore of Lilburn, Georgia has been named a 2010 Distinguished Alumna of Auburn University's School of Nursing, where she received a bachelor's degree in nursing in 1983.

With more than 20 years of pediatric nursing experience, Moore has dedicated her life to improving the lives of medically fragile children. A nurse, unit administrator and clinical nurse educator, she has noted that today's advancing technology allows doctors to save children who would have died in the past, yet their quality of life can be bleak. So she founded The Dream House for Medically Fragile Children, Inc., which has already raised more than $3 million to serve more than 900 children in 42 Georgia counties. The program plans to expand statewide and will begin construction soon on The Dream House Resource Center, LLC in Conyers.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award is given annually at Auburn to a nursing graduate known for his or her clinical distinction in nursing through scholarly endeavors, promotion of health care, professionalism and remarkable service to the community.
