Lime Surpasses 100 Million Rides as the Global Leader In Micromobility

Boston riders are part of a global change in the way we get around.

BOSTON, MA (09/16/2019) (readMedia)-- Lime kicked off a ride heard round the world, reaching its 100 million ride this week. Lime serves over 120 cities globally, in 20 countries across five continents. In Metro-Boston, Lime bikes and scooters play their part in creating a less congested transportation ecosystem and a cleaner, healthier city. With a connected bikeshare program in 13 towns around greater Boston and a thriving scooter pilot in Brookline, Lime is making urban life more liveable.

Worldwide, approximately 1 in every 4 of Lime bike or scooter trip replaced a car trip. Globally, Lime estimates its riders avoided approximately 25 million miles of car travel and prevented 9,000 metric tons of carbon emissions. Lime has empowered Metro-Boston area riders to choose sustainability and contribute to this major shift.

"In the last two years Lime bikes and scooters have taken off, bringing greener commutes into greater Boston," said Scott Mullen Director of Northeast Expansion at Lime. "With 100 million global rides, Lime has taken the lead in revolutionizing urban mobility and connecting communities through affordable and sustainable shared transportation. We're on a mission to transform city life and pave the way for a cleaner, healthier planet for future generations- and we couldn't be more thrilled with this important milestone."

Lime is the world's leading smart mobility provider for scooter and bike-sharing fleets, operating in more than 120 cities on five continents, and more than 100 million rides already taken. Lime's dock-free fleet is GPS and 3G-enabled, making it simple for riders to find, unlock and pick up a nearby scooter using their smartphone. Riders can simply end the ride on Lime's mobile app and responsibly park their vehicle by the street curb or at a bike rack.
