Litchfield Park Local Presents at Southern California Conference for Undergrad Research at Whittier College

WHITTER, CA (11/27/2013)(readMedia)-- Senior Carlee Shults, Litchfield Park, AZ local, participated in the 2013 Southern California Conference for Undergraduate Research (SCCUR), Change the World: Participate, Innovate, Illuminate, hosted by Whittier College on Saturday, November 23, along with 1,100 scholars from colleges and universities from throughout the region.

A sociology major, Shults presented her research, "Place Identity through Place-Making: Stakeholders' Reactions to the Asian Longhorned Beetle in Worcester, Massachusetts," in a 15-minute seminar presentation chaired by faculty moderators.

Nominated to the Whittier College Dean's List and awarded the Richard M. Nixon Fellowship, Shults conducted her research as part of the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs) and Internships Fellowship program which offers top Whittier College students the opportunity to spend summer months learning advanced research methods and preparing for work at the graduate level.

SCCUR provides a forum for the presentation of the best research, scholarship, and creative activities of undergraduate students in the region, and encourages communication of innovative achievements across disciplines, including the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and applied sciences.
