BURLINGTON, VT (11/03/2009)(readMedia)-- Liz Robert, former head of Vermont Teddy Bear and now bringing a new company making bicycles for women, will be the featured speaker at Champlain College's Bring Your Own Business (BYOBiz) Speaking from Experience lecture series. The Nov. 17 talk at 7 p.m. in Champlain College's Alumni Auditorium is free and open to the public.
According to Bob Bloch, director or BYOBiz, "Most Vermonters know Liz for her successful leadership of Vermont Teddy Bear, where as CEO she helped stabilize the floundering company, then helped it grow from $17 million to $75 million in sales."
"Last Spring, Robert began a new chapter, leading an investor group that purchased Terry Precision Cycles a leading marketer of Bicycles and bicycle accessories to women cyclists. As principal owner and CEO, she plans to move the company to Vermont and grow it using the direct marketing skills she honed at VT Teddy Bear," he said.
BYOBiz speakers earlier this year have included Champlain College senior Alex Brandstetter ('10) founder and Chairman of Slam for Sudan, the highly successful fund-raising program and Jim Lampman, founder and President of Lake Champlain Chocolates.
Champlain College's BYOBiz entrepreneur program is a unique opportunity for student entrepreneurs to bring their business ideas to college and work on developing and launching the business while working toward a degree.
