These alumni are recognized at the annual Talon Awards Gala in March. A picture identifying each will hang in the Student Center as a reminder of what Reinhardt alumni have accomplished.
Nelson Karpeh '05 Background
Nelson lived with his family in Liberia as a child. Civil war broke out on a weekend that both of his parents were out of town; it would be three and a half years before he would see them again. Surrounded by death, fear began to overwhelm him. It was during this harrowing time that Nelson came to know the Lord and realized that God had a plan for him. At the age of 11 Nelson came to the United States on political asylum. He attended school in Marietta and then Reinhardt University where he received a B.S. in Sociology/Criminal Justice.
After graduation, Nelson went to work for State Farm Agent, Steve Cannon. He joined the Fred Hinson State Farm team in 2006, before becoming a State Farm Agent in 2010. Nelson is active in his community as a member of Alpharetta Rotary Club, Atlanta Jr. Chamber of Commerce, Fulton County Chamber of Commerce, the Liberia Association of Metro Atlanta, and he is on the vestry board for his church, St. Jude's Church in Marietta. He is an advocate and sponsor for Compassion International and Water for Life an organization that builds and restores wells in Liberia.
