Local Student Christin Gaudette Receives Award

KEENE, NH (03/24/2011)(readMedia)-- Keene State College student Christin Gaudette of Claremont, NH received a top ten award for a poster presentation at the 3rd annual Northeast Undergraduate Research Symposium. Gaudette, a senior majoring in Biology, and two peers presented their poster titled, "The Role of the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor in PAH Toxicity in the Planarian Schmidtea mediterranea," supervised by Drs. Jason Pellettieri and Susan Whittemore.

The Northeast Undergraduate Research Symposium, which is planned and hosted by undergraduate and graduate students, took place in Biddeford, Maine on March 5 and 6, 2011. Colleges represented included Keene State, Smith College, Wellesey College, Amherst College, and Northeastern University. Students conducted research and presented their findings in fields including biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science.

Keene State College, a member of the University System of New Hampshire, is New Hampshire's public liberal arts college. KSC offers 35 programs of study as well as individualized majors, service learning, and national and international exchanges. The campus, with 21st-century technology housed in traditional ivy covered brick buildings, is located in the Monadnock Region of southwestern New Hampshire.
