Local performance of The Vagina Monologues to benefit Family Support Line

March 22 and 23 at Penn State Brandywine

MEDIA, PA (03/01/2013)(readMedia)--  "Penn State University Brandywine The Vagina Monologues" will be held on campus Friday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday, March 23, at 2 p.m. in the Main Building Auditorium, room 101.

Both performances are open to the public. Student admission is $5 and general admission is $8. The event will eature a chance auction of items provided by local businesses. All proceeds will benefit Family Support Line, a local non-profit organization that aids children and their families in addressing the distress caused by child sexual abuse. Family Support Line has been utilizing in-depth prevention programs and dedicated treatments to provide support to victims of child sexual abuse for 25 years, according to its website.

Faculty, staff, students and Penn State alumni will serve as actors and volunteers for the performance, which aims to educate the campus and local community about sexual violence against women and girls while raising funds for the cause. Penn State Brandywine is one of 5,800 organizations worldwide to host a performance.

Penn State Brandywine Counseling Services will host several workshops to educate students about sexual violence and to encourage them to get involved in the performance, including the upcoming "Talk About It" student panel discussion on dating violence, on Wednesday, March 20 at 12:30 p.m. in the Tomezsko Classroom Building, room 103
