SYRACUSE, NY (02/19/2008)(readMedia)-- Eric Johnson, President of Johnson’s Log Home and Timber Frame Shows has announced the dates of his show at the Oncenter Convention Center, in Syracuse, Saturday and Sunday, February 23 and 24. The show features displays from leading log and timber frame builders plus rustic furniture and accessories, and lenders who specialize in primary and second home financing.

“This show gives you a jump-start on the road to your primary home, a vacation home, ski chalet, cottage or camp” says Johnson, “You can sit one-on-one with the builders and designers and compare the various methods and technologies of today’s modern log or timber frame home. Plus, you can review your specific plans or custom design a home that fits you perfectly.”

Throughout each day, there will be free, informational seminars presented by industry experts. Johnson recommends previewing the seminar schedule and planning your day around the talks. “You can learn so much, if you’re even thinking about building a log or timber frame home, you really want to attend as many as possible. We’ve even had folks spend the weekend, so that they could attend all the seminars!”

“We’ve hit a collective nerve with log and timber frame homes” says Johnson, “The log home has become ingrained as part of the American Dream. It’s like the American Dream Version 2.0 – folks who already have a home, now want the second, getaway home; the ski chalet, the camp, the place on the lake.”

One of his longtime exhibitors, Paul Lepcio of Lok-N-Logs in Sherburne, NY, has exhibited at all of Johnson’s shows over the past 3 years, and has observed the strength of the second-home market firsthand, “Log homes are a growing trend, and while the primary home market has seen a downturn, we’re seeing continued strength in second home sales.” Lepcio also noted that today there are some 500 manufacturers of log homes, up from only a handful 40 years ago.

Lepcio says that today’s log homes are thoroughly modern and convenient, making them more desirable for older buyers. “We’ve retained all the charm of the traditional log home, but we design and build them meticulously for energy efficiency, easy maintenance, and durability.”

Johnson’s Log Home and Timber Frame Show will be at the Oncenter Convention Center, in Syracuse, NY, and will run Saturday from 10am to 7pm on February 23 and Sunday from 10am to 5pm February 24.
