Lung Association To Host Fifth Annual Breathe NYC: Asthma Walk 2008!

WHAT: The American Lung Association of the City of New York will host its fifth annual BREATHE NYC: Asthma Walk 2008 to raise awareness and funds to support the fight against lung disease in NYC. By participating in the 3-mile walk, BREATHE NYC: Asthma Walk supporters will make a difference by helping to provide hope and care in the lives of more than two million New Yorkers who have been diagnosed with lung disease.

WHO: - More than 5,000 walkers– including people with lung disease like asthma and their friends, families and co-workers – will walk to help New Yorkers breathe easier.

- Corporate leadership by 1199 SEIU Benefit & Pension Funds, New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, MetroPlus Health Plan, and Teva Specialty Pharmaceuticals.

- American Lung Association of the City of New York leadership, staff and volunteers.

WHEN: Saturday May 31st, 2008 8:30 a.m. Registration opens 10:00 a.m. BREATHE NYC: Asthma Walk 2008 begins

WHERE: Battery Park, Manhattan (by Castle Clinton)

WHY: Lung diseases like asthma are a serious public health issue in NYC. We need your help to provide proper treatment and resources for people with lung disease and to research cures. The BREATHE NYC: Asthma Walk 2008 raises awareness about lung disease, and 100% of the proceeds will support the programs and research of the American Lung Association of the City of New York so that all New Yorkers can breathe easier. Together, we are improving life, one breath at a time!
