Lung Association's BREATHE NYC: Asthma Walk Scheduled for May 22nd
Funds Raised Will Help Fight Lung Disease
NEW YORK, NY (05/10/2010)(readMedia)-- The American Lung Association in New York will hold its annual Breathe NYC Asthma Walk on Saturday, May 22nd to raise money to help fight asthma and lung disease. The 3-mile walk will be held at Battery Park in Manhattan. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 10:00 a.m. There is still time to register for the walk and sponsorships are still being accepted.
"Those who participate in our BREATHE NYC: Asthma Walk are helping to make a real difference in the fight against lung disease by raising funds that will help improve the quality of life for those who struggle to breathe every day," said Scott T. Santarella, President and CEO of The American Lung Association in New York. "All the proceeds from the walk are dedicated to the Lung Association's research, education and advocacy efforts on behalf of those with lung disease."
The Lung Association expects to have thousands of participants in their BREATHE NYC Asthma Walk on May 22nd. The New York City Health and Hospital Corporation, a valued partner of the Lung Association, as well as teams from many local hospitals and business, will again be walking at this year's event.
This year's walk is sponsored by Teva Specialty Pharmaceuticals, TD Bank and Clean Air New York.
Additionally, numerous local businesses have generously donated their goods to support this year's walk, including: Bimbo Bakeries Inc.; Starbucks Coffee Company; Costco Wholesale Club-Sterling, VA location; Costco Wholesale Club-Long Island City, NY location; A&J Produce Corp.; D'Arrigo Brothers Co. of NY Inc., and Fierman Produce Exchange Inc.
"We're looking forward to seeing our many longtime participants at the walk on May 22nd and we're hoping to see many new faces this year as well," said Santarella.
