DECORAH, IA (04/08/2013)(readMedia)-- William Leafblad, a Luther College junior from Watkins, Minn. will perform an oboe recital at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 14 in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther campus.
Leafblad, son of Joel and Andrea Leafblad of Watkins, is majoring in music. He is a 2010 graduate of Litchfield High School.
Leafblad will perform works by Gabriel Fauré, Paul Hindemith, Liza Lehmann, Carl Nielsen, Henry Purcell, Robert Schumann, Georg Philipp Telemann and Giuseppe Verdi.
A reception will follow the performance in the Noble Recital Hall lobby. Both the recital and reception are open to the public with no charge for admission.
Leafblad is a student of Heather Armstrong, Luther associate professor in music, and will be accompanied by Luther senior Madeline Davidson.
Luther senior Jason Knutson will be performing as Leafblad's recital partner.
Luther is home to one of the largest collegiate music programs in the nation with six choirs, three orchestras, three bands, two jazz bands and nearly 1,000 student musicians.
Luther students participate in large ensembles, faculty-coached chamber groups, private lessons and master classes. More than 350 music majors study music theory, ear training, history, education, composition, church music and performance.
