DECORAH, IA (04/11/2013)(readMedia)-- Jacob Schnabel, a Luther College junior from Fargo, N.D., will perform a bass voice recital at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 21, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the Luther campus.
Schnabel, the son of Steve and Sonya Schnabel of Fargo, is majoring in music management. He is a 2010 graduate of North High School.
Schnabel will perform works by Handel, Brahms, Reynaldo Hahn, Vincent d'Indy, Gaetano Donizetti and William Grant Still.
A reception will follow the performance. Both the recital and reception are open to the public with no charge for admission.
Schnabel is a student of Andrew Whitfield, Luther associate professor of music. He will be accompanied by Luther junior Bobby Ragoonanan. His recital partner is Luther junior Andrea Keuper.
Luther is home to one of the largest collegiate music programs in the nation with six choirs, three orchestras, three bands, two jazz bands and nearly 1,000 student musicians.
Luther students participate in large ensembles, faculty-coached chamber groups, private lessons and master classes. More than 350 music majors study music theory, ear training, history, education, composition, church music and performance.
