DECORAH, IA (05/17/2013)(readMedia)-- Alicia Findley of Litchfield, Minn., was honored at the Luther College Social Work Graduation Celebration Saturday, May 18 on the Luther College campus.
Findley, the daughter of Brian and Jodi Findley of Litchfield, is majoring in social work at Luther. She is a 2009 graduate of Litchfield High School.
The annual celebration highlights the role and mission of the social worker and includes a pinning ceremony where each graduates receive their social work professional pin.
During her time at Luther, Findley served as president of Phi Alpha, the social work honor society. In 2012, Findley was awarded the Don Kemp Memorial Social Work Scholarship, an honor given to a Luther junior majoring in social work who best embodies the mission and objectives of the social work program with the qualities of commitment, initiative and service.
The primary objective of the social work major at Luther is to prepare students for employment in beginning generalist social work practice. The Luther social work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and is graduating 11 seniors in the 2013 class.
