DECORAH, IA (05/15/2013)(readMedia)-- Hannah Kosgard of Appleton, Wis., will have her work on display May 7-19 in the Kristen Wigley-Fleming Gallery in the Center for the Arts building on the Luther College campus.
A reception will be held for the artists just outside of the exhibit in the Center for the Arts at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18. The reception is open to the public with no charge for admission.
Kosgard, the daughter of Shelly and Kevin Kosgard of Dyersville and Davenport, Iowa, is majoring in art and sociology at Luther. She is a 2009 graduate of the Renaissance School for the Arts.
Kosgard's work is informed by the paintings of Jenny Saville, Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud and Cecily Brown. From these influences, she gathered an understanding of the relationship between thin to thick paint and gestural mark-making as tools to sculpt form.
The annual exhibit is held to give the students graduating with an art major the opportunity to present a sample of their entire senior project one final time while in college. The exhibit features a variety of works including painting, sculpture, photography, collage, video and mixed-media installation pieces.
The student exhibitors include Maseeh Ahmed, Kurt Bearinger, Sophia Brown, Ingrid Cologne, Nellie Herold, Eric Hild, Katelyn Kluge, Robby Scott, Emily Temte, Emily Voss and Rose Weselmann.
