DECORAH, IA (05/15/2013)(readMedia)-- Jason Knutson of Janesville, Wis., will have his work on display May 7-19 in the Kristen Wigley-Fleming Gallery in the Center for the Arts building on the Luther College campus.
A reception will be held for the artists just outside of the exhibit in the Center for the Arts at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18. The reception is open to the public with no charge for admission.
Knutson, the son of Brian and Jan Knutson of Janesville, Wis., is majoring in art and mathematics at Luther. He is a 2009 graduate of Parker High School.
Knutson traveled to Nicaragua during his sophomore year at Luther to participate in a class on the global water crisis. The polarization he experienced between his life back home and his travel experiences strongly influence his artwork.
Knutson's interest in global oppression and the global water crisis have become the subject of his senior art exhibit.
The annual exhibit is held to give the students graduating with an art major the opportunity to present a sample of their entire senior project one final time while in college. The exhibit features a variety of works including painting, sculpture, photography, collage, video and mixed-media installation pieces.
The student exhibitors include Maseeh Ahmed, Kurt Bearinger, Sophia Brown, Ingrid Cologne, Nellie Herold, Eric Hild, Katelyn Kluge, Hannah Kosgard, Robby Scott, Emily Temte, Emily Voss and Rose Weselmann.
