DECORAH, IA (08/29/2012)(readMedia)-- Stephen Uhl, a Luther College senior from Bensenville, Ill. will perform a piano recital Sunday, Sept. 9 in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther campus.
Uhl, the son of Paul and Linda Uhl of Bensenville, is majoring in music at Luther. He is a 2009 graduate of Fenton High School.
Uhl will perform works by Bach, John Carisi, "Dizzy" Gillespie, Bob James, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Robert Schumann, Billy Strayhorn and Neil Quillen .
A reception will follow the performance at 3 p.m. Both the recital and reception are open to the public with no charge for admission.
Uhl is a student of Du Huang, associate professor of music, Jessica Paul, professor of music and Thomas Bourcier, instructor in music .
Luther is home to one of the largest collegiate music programs in the nation with six choirs, three orchestras, three bands, two jazz bands and nearly 1,000 student musicians.
Luther students participate in large ensembles, faculty-coached chamber groups, private lessons and master classes. More than 350 music majors study music theory, ear training, history, education, composition, church music and performance.
