DECORAH, IA (12/05/2012)(readMedia)-- DECORAH, Iowa – Maddy Kofoed, Luther College junior from Apple Valley, Minn., was one of three students selected to present their work at the 2012 modern language conference, Streamlines, Nov. 10, at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.
Kofoed said, "Being able to attend other students' presentations... and participating in post-presentation discussions amongst audience members who were genuinely interested in the presenters' work was so inspiring."
At the conference Kofoed presented "Victimas de Violencia Estatal y Construccion de Memoria Colectiva," which translates to "Victims of State Violence and the Construction of Collective Memory." In her piece she focused on the value and nuances of memory.
Kofoed, the daughter of Brian and Lisa Kofoed of Apple Valley, is a biology and Spanish double major. She is a 2010 graduate of Eastview High School.
The mission of Streamlines is to encourage the students to use their intellectual, spiritual, imaginative and emotional development to grow as a person. It allows students to gain a new appreciation of themselves and their heritage through language, literature, culture and writing. The conference is hosted by Loras College, Clarke University and University of Dubuque.
Luther College is an undergraduate liberal arts institution of 2,500 students in Decorah, Iowa.
