ST. LOUIS, MO (09/19/2012)(readMedia)-- Missouri Baptist University junior Maddy Hammack was recognized as the American Midwest Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
During the week, Hammack posted a .339 attack percentage while recording 96 kills in seven matches. The St. Louis native also notched 40 digs to go along with six aces and eight blocks.
Hammack led the Spartans to a 7-0 week, extending the team's undefeated season to 13 matches. On Saturday, the outside hitter broke her career-high of 19 kills in a match by recording 21 against Avila University. Just hours later, she broke it again with 27 kills against the University of St. Mary.
The weekend numbers vaulted Hammack to No. 6 in the NAIA in kills/set. She leads the AMC in that category as well.
MBU is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and has received the distinction of being an NAIA Champions of Character institution for the past 10 years. The Spartans compete in the American Midwest Conference.
