MEDIA ADVISORY: Waterfront Clean-Up at Tonawanda

BUFFALO, NY (04/18/2012)(readMedia)-- WHEN: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012
WHERE: Gateway Harbor Park, Tonawanda.
WHAT: Volunteers will join the City of Tonawanda, Tonawanda Youth Board, and other volunteers to clean up the waterfront on both the Niagara River and the Erie Canal. Lunch will be provided after the clean-up. Interested volunteers should contact Karen at (716) 505-1172.
WHY: As part of the annual celebration of Earth Day, volunteers from nearly 100 organizations statewide team up with Parks & Trails New York, the New York State Canal Corporation, and the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation, to clean up and improve the lands around the Canal system, scheduled to reopen for navigation on May 1, 2012.
