ALBANY, NY (05/11/2008)(readMedia)-- The New York State Health Facilities Association (NYSHFA) today released a list of nursing facilities across New York state that are hosting signature events in honor of National Nursing Home Week ®. The week-long celebration begins on Mother’s Day, May 11 and continues until May 18, 2008. This year’s National Nursing Home Week ® theme is “Love is Ageless.”

Facilities will be hosting many exciting and colorful events that vary from art galleries featuring the artwork of residents and staff to fashion shows to Nintendo Wii video game bowling challenges. Residents of nursing facilities come from many walks of life and are responsible for planting the seeds that have made our communities grow stronger. National Nursing Home Week ® gives us a chance to honor these special residents, as well as the families, staff, volunteers, and community.

WHAT: Regional events at nursing home facilities in honor of National Nursing Home Week ®

WHEN: Sunday, May 11, 2008 through Saturday, May 18, 2008

WHO: Nursing home facilities located in Western New York, the Greater Rochester area, the North Country, Central New York, the Southern Tier, the Capital Region, the Hudson Valley and Long Island.

The New York State Health Facilities Association (NYSHFA) is a statewide membership organization of approximately 250 licensed nursing facilities. The membership is diversified and represents individual and multi-facility operations of proprietary, voluntary and government sponsorship.
