WESTBURY, NY (04/01/2014)(readMedia)-- STATEMENT OF SAM UNTERRICHT, MD, PRESIDENT OF THE MEDICAL SOCIETY OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, IN RESPONSE TO OUT OF NETWORK LEGISLATION IN STATE BUDGET
"New York's physicians applaud the efforts of the Governor, Department of Financial Services, Senate and Assembly to negotiate and pass legislation to enhance network adequacy and expand out of network coverage availability for our patients. The final negotiated product represents a comprehensive and balanced approached to addressing the myriad of issues relating to out of network care and inadequate insurer networks. We look forward to working with the DFS to assure a smooth implementation of this new law, including working together to assure that physician offices across New York State are fully aware of the numerous changes to the law, such as the new disclosure requirements and new dispute resolution mechanisms established under this legislation."
