Macarons or Macaroon Bakers Compete for the Title

DES MOINES, IA (09/05/2024) (readMedia)-- Crystal Cronk of Fairfield won first place and a $50 cash award in the Macarons category of the Macarons or Macaroons competition judged Saturday, August 17, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.

Lauren Probst of Windsor Heights won first place and a $50 cash award in the Macaroons category.

Entries were judged on taste, technique and presentation.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 140 divisions, 726 classes and over 6,400 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
