Maine Army Aviator Receives Legion of Merit

AUGUSTA, ME (07/29/2013)(readMedia)-- Colonel David Smith, from Hampden, Maine, was presented The Legion of Merit Medal from Brigadier General Michael Bobeck, special assistant to the director of The Army National Guard, at his retirement ceremony recognizing thirty two years of exceptional service. Col. Smith, the State Army Aviation Officer, is qualified in more than 12 Army rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft and has clocked more than 5,000 pilot hours. His wife Juliana and two children David and Jordan accompanied their father, many friends and colleagues celebrating his contribution to his country.
