Maine Guard joins Houlton Higher Education Center to host public signing of Community Covenant

AUGUSTA, ME (06/30/2015)(readMedia)-- The Town of Houlton and representatives from the Maine National Guard will join with the Houlton Higher Education Center to host a public signing of a Community Covenant on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 6:30pm in Monument Park, Houlton Maine.

The Houlton Town Council has selected Town Manager Butch Asselin to represent the town in this show of support for the Service Members, Veterans and their Families. The Maine National Guard will have a representative present to sign the Covenant on behalf of the military.

Directly following the Covenant Signing, there will be a Roll Call of the local organizations that have committed to showing their support in some specific way. This public venue provides an occasion where the supporter's dedication to our Military Community can be commended. Finally, the community at large can hear firsthand what the organization has pledged in support of our Service Members, Veterans and their Families.

Many Houlton area businesses already show their support in many different ways. Some provide discounts on purchases, Military Holiday special offers, waiving fees, paid leave while on military duty while others give streamlined access to services. This event will showcase these examples and encourage others who are likeminded to step forward and be recognized publicly.

This event has been planned and organized by the Aroostook County Regional Group of the Maine Military Community Network.
