Make The Road Action, NY Communities for Change, RWDSU Rally for Jimmy Van Bramer

Major workers rights orgs come out strong for BP candidate against pro-Amazon attack ads

QUEENS, NY (06/13/2021) (readMedia)-- Make the Road Action; New York Communities for Change; Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union; and Amazon Union organizer Christian Smalls will endorse Jimmy Van Bramer for Queens BP at a rally in Corona Plaza. Corona, Queens was the epicenter of the pandemic and home to many frontline workers.

This is a significant development in the race as pro-Amazon forces spend thousands of dollars against Van Bramer in digital attack ads, falsely accusing him for being "anti-union" and "anti-Queens."

Van Bramer- who has spent his career organizing for libraries, affordable housing, immigrant rights, and labor- led the fight against Amazon HQ2 in his Long Island City Council District because of the company's horrible track record on workers' rights, its facial recognition contracts with ICE and DHS, and the impact on Queens' housing affordability. Workers' rights organizations- Make the Road Action; New York Communities for Change; Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union- are teaming up to work towards getting Van Bramer elected.

Early voting started June 12th and election day is June 22nd.
