CANTON , OH (02/08/2013)(readMedia)-- The Malone University College of Theology, Arts, and Sciences – Department of Music will present a junior recital featuring Hannah Miller, a voice and nursing double major from Wooster, Monday, February 18 at 7:30 pm. in the Stewart Room of the Randall Campus Center, located on the campus at 2600 Cleveland Avenue N.W. in Canton. The recital – featuring Beverly Kalasky on piano – is free and open to the public. A program follows.
Hannah Miller is a fourth year college student double majoring in music with a concentration in voice, and nursing. She has studied privately with Luisa Westfall, Toni Arnold Shreeve (College of Wooster), David Templeton (College of Wooster, College of Charleston), and currently with Cynthia Wohlschlager (Malone University). Hannah has always had a love of music and enjoyed singing from a very young age. This is her second year at Malone, and she has been an active member of the Malone Opera Theater Program under the direction of Cynthia Wohlschlager. She was a part of the integral season of MOT in the scenes program "Make Our Garden Grow." Hannah was most recently cast as "Amahl" in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors. She is the soprano section leader and an officer in the MU Chorale under the direction of Dr. David Donelson. She has also been in the MU Chamber Choir during her time at Malone. Previously, Hannah has been in several other ensembles including the C of C Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers, as well as the College of Charleston Opera Theater Workshop in which she played roles in the scenes program "I Can Do Without You," "Gianni Schicchi," the children's opera "The Billy Goats Gruff" and the role of 'Pitti-Sing' in Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Mikado". Hannah was the 3rd place winner of the South East Regional NATS competition in 2010 in the freshman women category. She is also a VOCI competition scholarship winner. Hannah also enjoys performing in the community, with musical theater programs like Amerinic Productions, at public events, and in nursing homes. In addition to singing, Hannah has also studied the piano, violin, trombone, and percussion privately. She also taught herself to play the mandolin, and enjoys playing in her free time.
