CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (01/17/2012)(readMedia)-- Mandy Vandiver of Imperial, Mo., is among a select group of elite Southeast Missouri State University undergraduates chosen to participate in a five-day seminar in Washington, D.C., during spring break March 11-16, learning about global issues in business, the environment and politics at the prestigious Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
Students selected for the opportunity were required to demonstrate leadership involvement on and off campus, academic excellence or both.
Participants for the trip were nominated by faculty members and selected by University administrators, including Southeast President Kenneth W. Dobbins, Southeast Provost Ronald Rosati, deans and regional campus directors.
Vandiver is studying for a major in elementary education. She is a junior at Southeast and would like to become an elementary school teacher and reading specialist. She is a member of Alpha Phi Omega, Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society and is a Governor's Scholar.
Vandiver is the daughter of Clay and Jeannie Vandiver of Imperial. She was a 2009 graduate of Windsor High School in Imperial.
