Margaret Van Valkenburgh '26 of Highland, N.Y., was presented with two awards during the College's Honors Convocation held on April 30.
Van Valkenburgh was recognized as an Andrew B. Saxton Undergraduate Fellow in Spanish. Fellows are selected by faculty in each department to honor outstanding achievement in their respective fields. They serve as student assistants within their major department and receive a tuition credit.
Additionally, Van Valkenburgh received The Edith M. Lacey Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Established to memorialize Lacey, founder of the Hartwick nursing program and its director for nearly 18 years, the scholarship goes to a junior nursing student with demonstrated academic achievement and abilities (promise as a future nurse), personal deportment and other outstanding characteristics.
