ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (12/12/2013)(readMedia)-- Mariam Adeyemo, a Bladensburg, Md. native and first year student at St. Mary's College of Maryland, was recently awarded the Cindy Broyles Endowed Scholarship. Established in 2011 by Cindy Broyles '79, the scholarship fund benefits students who have financial need.
At St. Mary's College of Maryland, Adeyemo is studying biology and women's studies. She hopes to pursue a career in the medical field and her goal is to attend medical school and specialize in obstetric gynecology.
Outside of the classroom, Adeyemo is an active member of the Black Student Union and the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) Club on campus. She is interested in human anatomy and women's advancement and enjoys doing hair as a hobby.
St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
