Mark Penny receives Graduate College Award at William Woods University

FULTON, MO (06/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Mark Penny, superintendent of the Lincoln County R-III school district in Troy, received the Graduate College Award at William Woods University's Alumni Weekend. The award was created last year to honor successful individuals who completed their degrees through William Woods.

From William Woods, Penny earned his Master of Education degree in secondary administration in 1998 and a specialist degree in administration in 2005. He is pursuing his doctorate in education through WWU.

Penny has given back to WWU on several occasions. He served as an adjunct professor for five years and as commencement speaker in 2008. He has appeared in ads for the Graduate College, providing a testimonial of his experiences.

He began his career in Moberly as a seventh-grade social studies teacher in 1997. He was named assistant high school principal two years later, then served as principal for four years before being promoted to assistant superintendent in 2004 and superintendent in 2008. He took his current position in Troy in 2010.

Penny has multiple professional memberships. In 2007 he was a chairman for the University of Missouri Partnership for Education Renewal Operations Council. He was also a member of the Missouri Education Vision Project 2010-2011.
