Marquette's Molly Aikins named club volleyball All-American
MILWAUKEE, WI (04/12/2012)(readMedia)-- Molly Aikins, a graduate student from Naperville, IL, played on the Marquette University club volleyball Gold team that finished third at the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation national championships, held April 5-7th in Kansas City, MO. Marquette came into the tournament ranked no. 1 in the country with a 37-1 game record, and beat tough teams like Minnesota and Texas before losing to the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the semifinals.
Aikins, who is the team's starting right side hitter, was named an All-American along with three of her teammates. It is the third time she has received this honor. 16-year head coach Anne Pufahl says of Aikins, "Molly is by far our heart and soul. She was our leader, our veteran who's been there. Very few teams have a right side who hits as hard and plays as well as she does."
