Matt Ridge of Jarrettsville Portrays Bellomy in The Fantasticks
CHESTERTOWN, MD (04/16/2013)(readMedia)-- Washington College is pleased to announce that Matt Ridge '15 of Jarrettsville, MD recently played the role of Bellomy in Washington College's production of The Fantasticks, a senior thesis directed by drama major Lauren Oswald '13.
The Fantasticks tells the story of a young couple in love as they deal with the imposing wall that separates them and the feud between their fathers. Originally produced in 1960, the musical, which features such well-known songs as "Try to Remember" and "They Were You," played for 17,162 performances before closing on January 13, 2002, making it the longest-running production in the history of the stage and one of most frequently produced musicals in the world.
Ridge is majoring in drama and is heavily involved with Encouraging Respect of Sexuality (EROS). He is also a member of the LGBT club. A graduate of The John Carroll School, Ridge has made the Dean's List each semester of his enrollment at the College.
