Matthew Cherubino '22 studies cancer research in First-Year Seminar

Matthew Cherubino '22 of Flemington, NJ, a biochemistry and molecular biology major at Gettysburg College, began a research project about immune checkpoint inhibitors for cancer treatment.

Cherubino began his research in his First-Year Seminar, Cancer in Society: A War Against Immortality, under the guidance of Chemistry Prof. Robert Garrity. Garrity's class piques students' interests about many facets of cancer and gave Cherubino the opportunity to learn more about a potential career path in cancer research, which offers many opportunities and generous funding.
