ESPERANCE, NY (05/11/2010)(readMedia)-- The Landis Arboretum in Esperance is getting ready for another spectacular Spring Plant/Book/Bake/Artisans' Sale from 10 am – 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday, May 15 – 16. Volunteers spent this past Saturday, National Public Gardens Day, preparing for the big event, and it promises to be even better than before.

Several new features have been added: artisans from "Art in the Valley" will be selling their work at the Meeting House; Samuel E, a native of Oneonta, will be displaying his garden sculpture on the Arboretum grounds; and raffle tickets will be sold for a handmade quilt, aptly named "Tea in the Garden". Come and pick out a unique handcrafted item for yourself or a gift, try your luck at winning this lovely quilt donated by Nancy Konta of Richmondville, and enjoy a sneak peek of Samuel E's work. This renowned sculptor will be installing additional pieces at Landis, between now and the 19th of June, the date of the Arboretum's signature Garden Party event celebrating the Summer Solstice. Don't miss this special preview of what's to come, a wonderful Sculpture Garden at Landis, yet another dimension of the beauty and diversity the Arboretum continues to offer.

Whether you are a newcomer to the spring and fall plant sales or a seasoned shopper, you will be amazed by this year's variety. The usual large selection of high-quality perennials, shrubs, and trees will be sharing space with Landis' own heirloom vegetables and flowers, more than 30 varieties of lilacs, and many other surprises.
