5 K FOREST RUN
Runners can enjoy spectacular views of the Schoharie valley at this Arboretum classic set among the Arboretum's woodlands, fields and rolling hills. The first 50 registered before the start of the race receive free T-shirts. Awards: Male/Female-Top in each age group: Under 15, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, 70+. Race Day Registration: 8 - 9AM. Race start: 9:30AM on the Meeting House lawn. Tot Trot: 11:30 AM. Registration fees and forms at www.landisarboretum.org.

ANNUAL FALL PLANT/BOOK SALE
Out of the ordinary trees, shrubs and perennials are the hallmarks of this sale, which includes a bake sale on both days. Admission and parking are free. Arboretum members receive a 10% discount on Arboretum purchases.

PUBLIC STAR PARTY
Join the Albany Area Amateur Astronomers under the dark Arboretum skies. A variety of telescopes provide views of nebulae, star clusters, galaxies, planets, and other celestial sights. Alan French provides an introductory program in the Meeting House followed by an outdoor tour of the prominent constellations. Free admission and parking but donations to aid the Arboretum are always welcome. Star Parties are canceled if the skies are mostly cloudy. Call Alan at (518) 374-8460 for more details.

THE WHITE-TAILED DEER AND THE NATIVE AMERICANS
Learn about the biggest herbivore in our back woods and how the Native Americans made use of it. We'll explore the natural history and ecology of the deer. Then we'll look at how the native peoples used the deer for food, clothing, tools, toys, musical instruments, and more. Instructor: George Steele, Science Educator Members: $5/person, $15/family. Non-members: $10/person, $25/family.
