LA MIRADA, CA (04/16/2014)(readMedia)-- Head Coach Jonathan Zimmerman landed a sprinter to help round out his men's track and field team. Justin Parker, out of Mayfair High School will enter Biola in fall 2014 and look to make an immediate impact on the track in 2015.
"I chose Biola because of its dedication to a well-rounded education focused on God's word," said Parker. "It excited me to finally have the opportunity to surround myself with other students of like-minded faith."
Parker was awarded the rookie of the year award when he joined Mayfair's track program as a junior. He went undefeated and was the Subruban League champion in the 400m dash.
His personal-best in that event is 49 seconds flat. He also excels in the 200m with a personal-best of :22.40.
"Justin is an incredible find for us with super character and integrity," said Zimmerman. "Biola is an outstanding fit for him, and he is 'all in' for what the university is all about."
Parker will join Imani Joseph to give the track and field program two Mayfair HS alums. He led the Monsoons to a 6-2 record in meets during his junior season.
He will enter Biola as a computer science major.
