ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (01/06/2014)(readMedia)-- Mayumy Rivera-González, a Baltimore, Md., native and sophomore at St. Mary's College of Maryland, was recently awarded the Tommy Yeager Scholarship. Established in 2003 in memory of her husband by Martha Myers Yeager '41, the scholarship benefits Baltimore-area students who have academic merit.
At St. Mary's College of Maryland, Rivera- González is studying Asian studies, Chinese language, and dance. She holds a work-study position in the Office of International Education.
Outside of the classroom, Rivera-González is a member of Raices Hispanas Club, International Club and Softball Club. She is interested in Asian culture, language, history and sports. She also enjoys working out, reading Spanish literature and dancing.
St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
