McCargo Named Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students at Kutztown University

KUTZTOWN, PA (08/01/2017) Dr. Donavan D. McCargo has been named assistant vice president and dean of students at Kutztown University, effective Aug. 21. McCargo has been the dean of students at the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) since 2014.

Prior to his work at CCP, McCargo spent eight years at Rowan University, at both the Glassboro and Camden, NJ, campuses. He began his career as an assistant director of the Educational Opportunity Fund Program in 2006. He served as the associate dean for student life at Rowan from 2012 - 2014.

"We are excited to have someone with Dr. McCargo's expertise join us," said Dr. Warren Hilton, vice president for enrollment management and student affairs at KU. "His work ethic and character align with the hallmarks that make Kutztown University so successful."

McCargo holds a doctorate degree in education from Rowan University, where he also earned a bachelor's degree in marketing. He has a master's degree in higher education from Iowa State University.

"I am excited to become part of the Kutztown community and to work with so many enthusiastic, friendly and dedicated students, faculty and staff members," said McCargo. "I look forward to being part of the collective efforts that will contribute to the continued success of Kutztown University."

McCargo replaces Bob Watrous who retired in the spring after more than 30 years with the university.
