HERKIMER, NY (12/27/2011)(readMedia)-- Herkimer County Community College men's soccer player Reco McLaren was named National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) All-American.
Reco McLaren, Bridgeport, CT, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major, was named NSCAA First-Team All-American. McLaren played for the Generals in all 18 games this season, with 8 goals, 21 assists and 37 points. Coach Pepe Aragon said, "Reco is one of the most explosive players I have ever coached. Not only is he exceptionally fast, he is unbelievably skilled as well. That is a powerful combination."
Herkimer County Community College shared the No. 1 ranking with Mt. San Antonio College, LaPuente, CA in the final NSCAA/Continental Tire Division III national ranking. Herkimer is also the NJCAA national champion.
McLaren will be recognized at the annual All-America luncheon, to be held in Kansas City, MO on January 14, in conjunction with the 2012 NSCAA Convention.
Herkimer County Community College is a unit of the State University of New York, located in Herkimer, NY about 20 miles east of Utica, NY. With an enrollment of approximately 3,600 students, Herkimer offers more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs, on-campus housing, an active co-curricular activities schedule and a national championship athletic program. Herkimer is a Division III member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and has amassed 33 national, 85 regional and 126 conference championships. Herkimer placed second in the 2010-11 National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup competition.
