In an inaugural season where "firsts" are going to be the norm, McMurry University softball added another milestone as freshman pitcher Kamwren Jackson (Abilene, Texas/Wylie H.S.) was named as the American Southwest Conference "Pitcher of the Week." Jackson is the first-ever War Hawks' player to garner weekly conference honors.
In McMurry's second game versus Trinity University of last Friday's first-ever contests in program history, Jackson was lights out in relief. Jackson came on in the third inning and threw five-scoreless innings, as McM tried to claw its way back in a 7-4 setback. She permitted just two hits, struck out two Tigers' batters and did not issue a walk.
The War Hawks will take on their second opponent this Friday (Feb. 9), hosting Southwestern University in a non-conference doubleheader at Red Bud Park (Field #1). First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
