McMurry War Hawks' Hunter Earns American Southwest Conference (ASC) Women's Field Event Athlete of the Week

Junior discus specialist Alexiz Hunter (Georgetown, Texas/Pflugerville H.S.) parlayed a tremendous effort at last weekend's David Noble Relays into another weekly accolade, earning the American Southwest Conference (ASC) Women's Field Event Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league office.

Hunter earned the same award - on the national level - from the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) on Monday.
Hunter unleashed an ASC-leading effort of 47.57 meters (156'-00") to place third overall at the Angelo State/David Noble Relays on Sunday. Hunter was topped only by a pair of NCAA II competitors in the discus, at that meet.

Her effort - which was a personal best - also ranked No. 1 in the NCCAA, No. 2 among NCAA III competitors and leads the NCAA III South/Southeast Regional rankings by better than 20 feet!

Hunter has also climbed to seven-and-one-half feet of the oldest record on the books for McM women's track and field. In 1999, Ann Rhiddlehoover set the women's discus standard at 49.80 meters (163'-05.00") at the Bluebonnet Relays.
