AIKEN, SC (01/29/2018) On the eve of the University of South Carolina Aiken's Winter Nocturne, the featured pianist took time to meet some of the city's students, making a stop at Mead Hall Episcopal School's historic Aiken Prep Campus.

Mead Hall's middle school students met Petronel Malan, the world-renowned pianist from South Africa, who was the first to play USC Aiken's brand new 9-foot Steinway concert grand piano.

Not only did they discuss music, including Mozart's classics but the students also learned a bit about living in South Africa.

The university's annual Winter Nocturne always features an accomplished pianist, performing on the Etherredge Center's Main Stage. As part of the visit, the artist offers seminars to local students; conducts masters classes for area piano students; and teaches a class or two for music students at USC Aiken.
