Media Advisory: Canal Corporation and Town of Hastings Advise of Closure of Brewerton Pier to Public

ALBANY, NY (05/08/2009)(readMedia)-- The New York State Canal Corporation and the Town of Hastings today advised of the closure of the concrete Brewerton Pier to the public, effective immediately due to structural deficiencies. The pier will remain closed indefinitely until it can be replaced.

In order to provide alternate docking to boaters in Brewerton, the Canal Corporation will design and construct a new floating dock that will connect the existing floating pier, to the northern shoreline at the western end of Oneida Lake. It is anticipated that this docking will be installed and available for use in approximately six weeks.

The Canal Corporation appreciates the public's patience while the new docking is installed.
